At K Cancer Baseball, we utilize a three phase approach in our efforts to support local families battling Childhood Cancer.
First Base: We get in the trenches and directly assist families battling Childhood Cancer. We conduct home visits and provide care packages and financial assistance to help defray the added financial burden that is a result of traveling out of town for treatment. When your child has cancer, little things become big pressures. We are here to try to take some of that pressure off of them so that they can focus on getting their son or daughter better. We want to make sure that no local family has to walk the childhood cancer road alone!
Second Base: Increase awareness to the issues facing our local families who are battling Childhood Cancer. We march in parades, participate in local events, make appearances on local television programs, write Op Ed articles, and speak at community meetings sharing our message with thought leaders in the community. We also have a 15U boys travel baseball team and 12U girls travel softball team that represent K Cancer Baseball in area tournaments.
Third Base: Partner with established non profit organizations like The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Be The Match Donor Registry, who are doing great work advocating and advancing research in the field of Childhood Cancer. We rep their services at our community events and provide needed feet on the street so that they can distribute their assistance to state-line families!
